Beyond the Holidays
This holiday season was still a strange one, not as difficult as 2020 perhaps, but challenging and bittersweet in many ways. One thing I really enjoyed however was the spirit of the Facebook posts I read from friends and family.
I had trouble limiting which gems to share and I sometimes didn’t have time to soak in the messages conveyed. So I took to taking screenshots that I could revisit during meditation sessions. Savoring and contemplating these has been an important part of my January morning ritual.
This one by Howard Thurman has always been important to me. I felt like it deserved a second sharing as we dive into 2022 and its challenges.
Now The Work of Christmas Begins
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flocks,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among the people,
To make music in the heart.
Amen and Blessed Be.
