Oracle Card for August

My little pontoon boat is named Lady of The Lake. So today I was attracted to The Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Card and Guidebook by Colette Baron-Reid. It's a favorite.

Our card for the month is The Water Faery.

Our card for the month is The Water Faery. Water certainly has been on my mind these past few weeks; not only the pleasure of summer boating and swimming here in the Finger Lakes, but also the flooding, the severe storms and the general upheaval of weather.

The element of water is unstable, even in chaos this summer. As a Pisces, the water qualities of serenity and flow offer me a deep connection to my emotional self. That has been disrupted. One of many disruptive aspects to this extraordinary summer.

With the water fairy, the author connects us to our emotions and feelings. She reminds us that we are not our feelings, but we must acknowledge and experience our feelings before we can move beyond any one of them.

She says that water is liquid magic- I love thinking about that: water as liquid magic.

When you remember that it is being in a deep, authentic feeling of what we envision that creates the manifestation of that vision, we realize the etheric power of water and its physical power.

Unitarian Universalists have a fall ritual of gathering folks to bring back water samples from their summer experiences and blend them as we show appreciation for the elements, for our opportunity to have time with nature and to signify the Oneness of all.

As I read our card, I thought of all the springs, lakes, wells, oceans, waterfalls, and rain barrels sampled and brought together through that ritual.

I humbly ask that you visit a watery place this month. Perhaps, bring a small sample of water home for ritual. At the very least, offer gratitude and ask for the coherence of water to return to its natural flow.
