Our Monthly Oracle Card- The World Tree

The tree of life is an important symbol in Celtic tradition and many other indigenous cultures. Our March oracle card, drawn from the Greenwood Tarot Pre-celtic Shamanism of the Mythic Forest is authored by Mark Ryan and Chesca Potter. It is The World Tree, and it is positioned at the end of the Major Arcana. Like traditional decks, the Major Arcana begins with The Fool (the beginner). Choosing to place the world tree at the end of the Major Arcana reminds us of the cyclical nature of life and the universe. The world tree suggests that we have come full cycle and, therefore in a position to begin again: to transition ourselves or transmute ourselves to a new way that further expands our Consciousness and our connection to the greater universe. 

Take in the picture of this tree in full leaf, verdant, colorful, and surrounded by a rainbow of light. Light. Yes, summer is coming, and life is a hologram. Like this magnificent tree at the year's fullness, we also reach maturity and repeat the cycle of life and growth. A tree cut down reveals the rings that indicate its number of years. We, too, mark the years of our growth through a calendar based on the seasons, the sun, and the moon. Be in awe of the tree and all it represents.

An additional reminder that we are on a path that works in cycles with ebbs and energy flow is the labyrinth around the foot of the tree. The labyrinth is another ancient symbol that offers a spiritual practice to bring awareness of how to release the old and manifest the new through intention. We, humans, are not bound to seasonal change but can speed up or retard our growth based on our awareness and intention. Labyrinths are beautiful tools for doing so.

You may want to visualize entering the tree's heart in this picture or walking its labyrinth. At the center, you can then connect to the wholeness of the universe. As the authors suggest, “ the universe and all its blessings are available to everyone who seeks knowledge and wisdom with a sincere heart. On every level, the cosmos has a generous body bounty and gives freely of its rich nourishment and fulfillment”. 

May March be a month of connecting our life force and growth to the health and well-being of our planet so we may thrive along with The World Tree.
