Sovereignty means we are the authority for our own life, that we are free to define and live our own values, and that our identity belongs to us individually. Like Russian nested dolls that fit into larger and larger replicas of themselves, we are unique and separate entities as we simultaneously are part of a larger whole.
Read MoreWe all need “soft days in the fresh” to take stock, ground ourselves, and connect with Nature. Sometimes Nature and the Universe hand such a day to us on a platter. Other times, we need to seek out that place. Perhaps, a walk into a woods, perhaps an old-fashioned lemonade under a shade tree, or dipping one’s toes in the water.
Read MoreJeanne Crane is a frequent presenter at the Dublin Festival. She has talked about The Thin Places, Walking in the Steps of Brigit of Kildare, Ancient Mysteries and Stone Circles. She created this talk, entitled Being Present to offer some insights into the way Celtic wisdom can help us through these difficult times and connect us virtually to the resilient spirit of the Irish.
Read MoreI had never thought much about how the stars and planets align and what that might mean for my life and the life of our planet. In the last month, there was tremendous celestial activity: three eclipses. The power of the skies was not to be ignored.
Read MoreLight, sound and energy all have qualities of vibration and frequency. Modern day technology uses vibration and frequency in ways I can not begin to describe. I merely am the beneficiary of their workings. Likewise, The Ancient Ones understood aspects of vibration and frequency which I can experience in a stone circle, although I cannot explain why. How is such energetic resonance created? How can I experience it in my everyday life? I can I know better how to work with it?
Read MoreI find it intriguing and ironic that we are now beginning to see that the Ancient Ones understood and used energy in ways that are just coming into our awareness. You don’t have to visit ancient sites to open to this awareness. A walk in the woods, sitting in a garden or watching a sunset can do it.
Read MoreMy journey to Ireland this spring was cancelled. It was not until a couple of weeks into our stay-at-home status, that I realized I was on an inner journey, just as rich and meaningful as I had hoped to have visiting my beloved stone circles. While I was home alone, I was not alone in having an experience of inner exploration. After zooming and teleconferencing and webinar chat room sharing, I realized that I needed to be journaling this journey just as I would a trip to Ireland. So many observations, insights and ahas!
Read MoreWe hear people describe the times we are experiencing as a chrysalis. Personal, spiritual and collective transformation share that experience of the entity shifting into a new way of being, a new form. Not all growth or change is so dramatic. Some is developmental or planned. But transformation suggests the new phase is beyond the present knowing.
Read MoreOften, I write about the ancient sites that were built to align with the sun, or moon or stars. While modern scholars acknowledge these phenomena, many suggest they were “simply” sundials or places to celebrate the changing of the seasons and know when to plant crops. Walking these places in mindfulness, it is easy to feel that much more was going on in these ancient places or ritual. These places “worked with the light”. These places “anchored the light”. Their alignment focuses the light and drew the observer to a place where the light and energy of the sun connected to the Earth.
Read MoreWe are at a threshold moment globally and individually. As we are asked or forced to stay inside our homes in separation, we cannot help but be mindful of this extraordinary time. Stepping out beyond the threshold of our home is a conscious act, not to be taken lightly. We can step out in fear, in gratitude, in uncertainty or hope. The choice is ours. We become conscious of even the smallest interaction, we see how we are impacted by global events, and we feel what a great privilege it is to walk freely, taking in the air and beauty around us.
Read MoreI lit the flames of my three wicked candle during my meditation, bringing in the power and guidance of my ancestors, the archangels and goddesses that support me and the elemental kingdom that sees to our physical world.
The power and magic of threes came to me, so many examples in Celtic Lore.

Read MoreRituals are important. Many people have no tradition of ritual or access to helpful rituals in their lives. When crises come, it is so easy to feel helpless. It is hard to focus our energies, our good wishes, our faith. A ritual like the creation of a healing circle, the lighting of a candle or the singing of a song of hope can be surprisingly soothing AND ease to pull off.
